The drive for software licensing flexibility
‘Software Development Times’ is not a journal I normally read, but I was fortunate to be alerted to this article which provides more useful contribution to the debate and increasing awareness of the pressures for licensing options from software vendors. The article contains some useful information from IDC’s Amy Konary (follow her on Twitter at @mizkonary) about specific instances of the financial impact for organizations moving some apps to a pay-as-you-go basis. The process starts of course with a close look at what software an organization actually uses, and that is something we are now offering on a 90-day basis. The new Web-enabled software usage monitoring client provides the ability to collect the usage data from all those remote, internet-connected machines used by the mobile workforce in your organization, as well as the LAN-connected systems.
