IT Asset Management solution group

Overview

Vector Asset Manager Pro combines all the elements of the IT Asset Discovery, Inventory and Mapping solution and the Software Inventory and Compliance solution, in one integrated kit. The functionality enabled in each solution is controlled by the license key.

Vector Asset Locator combines the Asset Manager Pro kit with customized asset location technology, typically using dual-active RFID. There is no standard download for the asset location element of the Asset Locator solution, as this is wholly customized to the customer's needs.

The current production release of Asset Manager Pro (AM Pro) is v5.8.

PC Configuration Management solution group

Overview

The PC Configuration Management solution group includes four solutions targeted at pro-active monitoring and maintenance of PC configurations. Some of these solutions are single function, while others are multi-function and comprise a number of separate kits, each of which has its own version control and numbering.

The modules particular to this solution group are -

  • Configuration Monitoring and Diagnostics ('Diagnostics'). This is a standalone Windows hosted application with a Windows agent for the monitored PCs.
  • Software Distribution. This module is very often combined with one or more of the asset management modules, enabling software distributions to be tightly targeted to PCs meeting configuration standards and/or running particular applications. It is therefore integrated with the Asset Manager Pro kit, with the software distribution function enabled by license key. For organizations that already have PC asset databases and software inventory, Software Distribution will also function standalone.
  • Application Streaming. This technology is licensed by Vector on a per project basis. Contact support@vector-networks.com for further information.

Diagnostics is combined with the Asset Discovery and Inventory modules from the IT Asset Management solution set in the Configuration Manager Pro solution.

Software Distribution and Application Streaming are combined in the Software Provisioning Pro solution.

IT Service Management solution group

Overview

The Vector IT HelpDesk and Service Management solution group includes combinations of modules to provide organizations with toolsets to suit their level of evolution in IT Support and Service Management.

The modules particular to this solution group are -

  • HelpDesk. This is a scalable Web-based IT support issue tracking solution with all the functionality necessary to implement an ITIL-oriented support team.
  • PC-Duo ® provides PC-PC remote control, and can be run either through its main Windows Master console, or through a Web interface that is integrated into HelpDesk.

In addition, the Service Manager Pro solution encompasses all the asset discovery functions of IT Asset Discovery, Inventory and Mapping solution, providing instant access to current asset and configuration information from inside the HelpDesk console. Release information on this functionality is covered by the Asset Manager Pro release bulletins.

The Change Management solution is based on the same core issue tracking and escalation software as drives HelpDesk, and these two are kept at identical version numbers.

The current production releases of the modules in the IT HelpDesk and Service Management solution family are:

  • IT Asset Discovery, Inventory and Mapping - v5.8.
  • HelpDesk and Change Management - v5.6.
  • PC-Duo remote control - v11.6.

Business Issue Management solution group

Overview

Vector Issue Tracker is the core, Web-based issue escalation, management and recording platform for Vector's range of process-oriented solutions, such as IT HelpDesk and Change Management. It is supplied in this category of Business Issue Management for application to needs such as Compliance Issue Tracking, External Customer Support, Complaint Handling.

Vector Asset Tracker is a particular combination of the Issue Tracker platform with extensions for asset identification systems such as RFID and barcode, and dedicated to real-time tracking of mobile assets.

Issue and Asset Tracker are kept at the same version number, currently v5.6, and point release updates are reflected in the What's New bulletins for the HelpDesk implementation.
