Vector Networks' PC-Duo v11.2 Strengthens Enterprise Performance

April 15th, 2009 — Atlanta, Montreal and Birmingham (UK) — Vector Networks today released a package of enhancements to its market leading PC-Duo™ PC Remote Control product.

PC-Duo v11.2 consolidates platform coverage with support for Windows Server 2008 and provides performance increases in Vista. Kevin Kiley, Vector's VP sales and marketing, observes, “The pending release of Windows 7 as well as economy related budget reductions, has limited the deployment of Vista for many of our clients, however, it is important that we provide the same excellent performance on Vista that our customers enjoy on XP.”

Organizations often use PC-Duo in conjunction with Vector's Web-based HelpDesk and Asset Manager Pro solutions. PC-Duo v11.2 now enables remote control sessions to be initiated directly from the HelpDesk Web interface. Kiley continued, “Another result of the current economic climate is that customers are looking for maximum leverage from existing investments. Maximum integration between asset and service management functions can yield improved efficiency and significant savings. We can even offer this Web-integrated remote control to users of other Web-based help desks.”

Erick Yanez, Vector's Montreal-based VP development added, “With more and more remote support sessions being conducted over the internet, we decided to introduce new bandwidth throttling algorithms to avoid impairing PC performance, particularly where the user was already working with a browser-based application.”

The new version also introduces a package of feature additions and extensions designed to further reduce support issue resolution times. A typical example is the ability for multiple support staff to participate in a chat session with the remote PC user. This feature complements the existing capability in the PC-Duo Enterprise edition for multiple support staff to participate in remotely controlling the supported user's PC.
