Client Management
New custom group: "Client - Installed Version"
A new custom group is included by default to display the different versions of the installed Asset Management Clients. This information is particularly useful during upgrades or in
environments running multiple versions.
New Uninstall for Vector AM Clients
From time to time a system may be re-purposed or retired. Asset Manager Pro v5.6 simplified the remote un-installation of Asset Management
Clients through a simple menu item in the Interactive Deployment. Un-installation is fast and silent.
Microsoft License Reporting: important for audit preparation
Enhanced: Microsoft Serial Numbers reports
Asset Management 5.6 introduced important enhancements to the Microsoft Serial Numbers reports that facilitate license management and better
prepare you for license compliance audits. The new reports include new Microsoft products as well as new information such as the application
edition and the last scan date.
Enhancements in the report layout also provide better and more structured information, separating the Applications from the Operating Systems.
Microsoft Volume License Keys
In v5.8 Vector's Asset Management solutions report the serial numbers or product keys of the new volume license keys introduced by Microsoft for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008.
General enhancements
Enhanced Software Inventory
In Asset Management 5.8 the Software Identification Manager now supports multiple root folder file detection. Special rules, exploiting the multiple root folder file detection, have been introduced to distinguish between registered and unregistered copies of WinZip. We know from customers that this is a particular issue, with many users thinking WinZip is a free utility.
The Applications Database has been expanded with new categories such as Social Media and Virtualization applications.
Performance boosted for larger sites
The distributed processing capabilities in Vector's IT asset management solution family has always presented a practical approach to scaling for larger installations, but customers with larger installations will welcome improvements to the performance of the Software Metering Data Collator process which were introduced in v5.8.
