  • Vector's 'AM Pro' automatically discovers and interrogates your networked PCs, and populates and refreshes a SQL-compatible database with rich and accurate information on each system's hardware, configuration details and installed software.
  • Over 600 hardware and configuration items inventoried are catalogued under convenient headings, and can be instantly compared between two PCs to reveal anomalies between nominally identical machines.
  • AM Pro analyzes the installed software in each PC using a unique 'Triple Pass' method to maximize recognition accuracy and scope. This provides the strongest foundation for achieving and demonstrating Software License Compliance and for supporting the process of Software License Optimization. (The use of less rigorous software identification tools can immediately erode your compliance status.)
  • AM Pro includes an easy to use policy-based tool, the Application Package Policy Manager, that enables you to profile your software requirements by associating applications with groups of PCs. Applications can be defined as mandatory, optional or prohibited, on a PC group-by-group basis. Variance reports compare your ideal situations with the reality of the installed inventory.
  • AM Pro discovers SNMP-enabled network hardware and creates a navigable map of the network, including correlating PCs to particular ports on the relevant network device.
  • It provides drill-down, Web-based reports, organized in sets around your business needs, exploiting both the current status and the change history information in the database. Output is available in all popular formats (.PDF, .XLS, etc) and can be emailed from within the report interface.
  • The reports provide operational and strategic decision support information, and answer a wide range of practical and commercial asset-related questions. Examples -

Available for MSDE, SQL Server and Oracle

Out of the box, this solution will automatically create an initial evaluation database using MSDE, enabling you to evaluate the capabilities without needing to allocate managed SQL Server resources. Conversion over to SQL Server is simple and automated. Some larger organizations have standardization of all database applications around Oracle, and these customers should consult their Vector Solution provider for information and guidance on configuration of their Oracle database.

Complementary Solutions

The functionality in AM Pro is also available broken out into two more narrowly focussed solutions. Asset Discovery and Mapping provides the discovery and regular inventory of desktop and network assets, complete with network location mapping. The Software Inventory, Compliance and Optimization solution focuses on software inventory only, and adds continuous software usage monitoring and the Application Package Policy Manager (PPM). PPM enables you to estimate your application license requirements and then compares the ideal with the reality of your current deployed software.
