Vector Networks' PC-Duo v11.3 embraces Citrix XenApp, XenDesktop, and Windows TS sessions
Thin Client users may not be running Windows but still need support!
June 25, 2009 — Atlanta, Montreal, and Birmingham (UK) — Vector Networks today released an important new build of its market leading PC-Duo™ PC Remote Control product.
PC-Duo v11.3 provides server-side support for thin client sessions under Citrix and Windows Terminal Server. Kevin Kiley, Vector's VP sales and marketing, observes, “We see many customers with thin clients rolled out to particular groups of users, while the rest continue to run Windows locally on traditional PCs and laptops. This creates a heterogeneous environment, but the need for user support is consistent across all groups of users.
“The perception is that robust remote control may not be needed in Citrix environments since it satisfies many remote scenarios. The reality is that a robust remote control solution such as PC-Duo is still in high demand for these environments for user support, training, and troubleshooting events.”
PC-Duo is already in widespread use with a variety of virtualized Windows environments, such as VMware ESX Server and VMware View desktop offerings; v11.3 means that PC-Duo now addresses virtually the entire spectrum of Windows environments in its general corporate, education, health, finance and government markets.
Erick Yanez, Vector's Montreal-based VP development added, “We also took the opportunity with v11.3 to roll in some bug fixes and improvements to the user-mode screen capture. Customers will in particular experience a tangible improvement in speed on Vista and Server 2008. We'll also support Windows 7 as soon as we see user adoption.”
