Vector Networks Launches PC-Duo v11.1 with Support for Vista
May 27, 2008 - Atlanta, Montreal and Sheffield (UK). - Vector Networks today announced the immediate availability of PC-Duo v11.1 with full compatibility for Microsoft Vista. The new version is available as PC-Duo™ Express and PC-Duo Enterprise and has been enhanced with particular emphasis on retaining PC-Duo's spectrum of security measures.
"Although the Vista uptake is still at a very early stage, we have early adopter customers who have already standardized on Vista for any new desktop deployments," said Kevin Kiley, Vector's VP Sales. "It has been particularly important with this release to ensure that we support heterogeneous Windows environments, and that we achieve Vista compatibility with no sacrifices."
Warren Free, Business Development Manager at Vector's exclusive EMEA partner Virtual Network Partners believes the UK and European market to be keeping pace with the US on Vista adoption saying, "Windows Vista rollouts are now being planned by many of our customers. PC-Duo is key to supporting the transition in what can be a tricky migration for end-users, and for reducing the overall stress of such a large rollout."
The release includes several additional features, including:
- Many-to-one Text Chat - A support technician can now hold a text mode conversation with the end-user on a remote PC, and also with any other technicians connected to that end-user's machine.
- File Transfer Resume - Occasionally a file transfer operation is interrupted when a connection is lost. PC-Duo v11.1 introduces the ability to resume interrupted file transfers exactly from the point of interruption.
- Windows Media Format support - PC-Duo screen recording files are produced in a highly condensed, streamlined proprietary format, for play-back with PC-Duo Master. PC-Duo v11.1 introduces a new utility to enable technicians to convert PC-Duo screen recording files into Windows Media format for playback in WM-compatible players and editing in off-the-shelf media tools.
