New Review Summarizes 19 Virtualization Players

A couple of virtualization-related events I’ve been waiting for have come through in the last few days. One is the general release of the Application Jukebox application streaming product from Endeavors Technologies.

The other is a major review of ”Desktop and Application Delivery Alternatives” published by Focus Consulting.  The review provides down to earth profiling of the major takes on application virtualization, and relates them to the challenges of optimizing and managing the end-user environment. It includes 19 vendor solution summaries, principally so each one can be correctly categorized. The review can be purchased through Focus’s Web site, and to tempt you I am delighted to be able to offer the Executive Summary for free download.

Meanwhile, we are looking forward to transitioning from Endeavor’s AppExpress to Application Jukebox in our Application Provisioning solution, and I’ll be delighted to bring you our impressions as we get to know the technology more intimately.

  1. Bozz.

Solution profiles seem to be available for $75 as opposed to $1995 for the full banana. Unfortunately I can’t find the link to get hold of the profile for Endeavors. I’d assume that the profile pulls no punches and gives some basics about how the solution fits in the ‘big’ picture, unless you know different.

I’d be tempted to bosh off £30 for a read but if it isn’t there then….

Mind you, an offer of a ‘Free’ download of the Executive Summary with any expression of being delighted about being able to do it makes you a greasy sales boi so I’m not likely to be interested in your response.

I got mine ‘Free’ from source by becoming someone else. Here youze go…

  2. Well Keith I admit I’ve been happy to have been involved in making sales, unduly lubricated or not. Thanks for the info about the individual profiles. The link you are looking for is

    I hope it’s worth £30.

  3. Okey Bloke..

Uhm, I didn’t realise selling stuff involved usage of the KY, or Crisco. I suppose I should be thankful I’m not on the front line.

I get two chances… I can break out my debit card for a shufty or I can ask for some hints about what the article contains……

    “Focus Solution Profile: Endeavors Technologies

Application streaming is a technology that allows businesses to package, manage, and deliver applications from a central location while executing those applications locally on client PCs. This minimizes the cost and personnel required to manage applications and their associated licenses across the enterprise, while utilizing local PC power for executing the application, offering a positive user experience. Streamed applications are stored on a centralized server and then streamed to the client for local execution in some type of virtual environment that varies by streaming vendor. Endeavors Technologies was the first company to deliver application streaming. This Focus solution profile looks at Endeavors Technologies and its solutions. It details the Endeavors architecture for application streaming, technical features of its solutions, differentiators from other application streaming vendors and solutions, strengths, and limitations. It also provides a Focus assessment of the company and solutions.

Keywords: Endeavors, Applicatin Jukebox, AppExpress, StreamFlow, application virtualization, application streaming, license compliance, incremental patching, offline, disconnected, SaaS, Web portal, application isolation, sandbox, on-demand, push, pull”

Looks a bit bosh…. apart from the ‘Applicatin Jukebox’ part.

I’m only bovvered coz, when I first looked the Exec Summary was based on AppExpress, old hat, and the Profile was not mentioned.

With much trepidation I’ll use option 1) and buy a copy.

  5. Whoops, maybe I was looking for the ‘Case Study’…. as mentioned in the Executive Summary.

That will be the one where Barb says Brian has a small weenie and she powers her larger substitute off Endeavors Technology..?

  6. I think you might take that as meaning I wasted my £30.
